Locksmith costs — guidance, not a quote

Locksmith work is priced once the door, lock and situation are known. These factors move the cost up or down.

What drives the cost

  • Type of job: a lockout, a rekey, a new deadlock or a security screen door lock.
  • Lock type and grade: standard, high-security, digital or restricted-key systems.
  • How many locks are involved and whether they should be keyed alike.
  • Door type and condition, and whether the frame or strike needs work.
  • Car keys: make, model and year, and whether a transponder or remote has to be programmed.
  • Time of day: after-hours and weekend call-outs versus scheduled daytime work.

Ask before work starts

A clear quote before any work begins is normal — including the call-out charge, labour and parts. If the price on arrival is very different from what you were told on the phone, you can say no before any work starts.

Why there is no price list here

Two lockouts that sound alike can need very different tools and time, so any fixed price would be guesswork. Official licensing and consumer guidance is linked below.
